Our Mission
we believe travel should leave behind memories, not footprints.
Inspired by Satoyama’s harmony between people and nature and the quiet wisdom of Wabi-Sabi, we invite guests to slow down and experience the simple beauty of life in the hills of Munnar.
As caretakers of this ecologically sensitive landscape, we tread lightly on the earth, mindful that these forests, streams, birds, and mountains are not ours to own, but borrowed from future generations.
Solar. Slow. Soulful.
Thoughtful Design
Respectful Architecture
A two-storey height is maintained in accordance with the local Building Construction Code.
Natural Materials
We have tried to use natural and eco-friendly materials such as stone, sand, and wood. The combination of wooden ceilings and natural materials provides excellent insulation.
Natural Light & Air
Rooms are designed to embrace natural light and fresh air, creating a naturally bright and breathable environment.
Local Souvenirs
Recycled paper products, bean to bar chocolate, single garden tea and spices are available for guests to experience and take away.
Our Commitment
Every aspect of our homestay is crafted with care: renewable energy, rainwater harvesting, natural cooling, biogas and composting systems, natural farming, and locally sourced ingredients in our kitchen.
By choosing mindful simplicity over excess, we celebrate the quiet luxury of less while reducing our overall environmental footprint.
“At Mistletoe, sustainability is not an add-on — it is our foundation. We invite you to travel light, live deeply, and rediscover comfort that flows in rhythm with the land.”
Our Green Initiatives
At Mistletoe, we strive to be environmentally sustainable. From eliminating plastics to using renewable energy, we ensure that our style of tourism supports both local communities and nature.
Solar Energy

Our 5 KW on-grid rooftop solar panel system meets 90% of our energy needs, except during cloudy days and black outs. Since installation it has generated 9.27 MWh power equivalent to 6.4 tons CO2 reduction Data updated in May 2026.
Biogas System
We generate biogas from vegetable and food waste, providing Green cooking fuel for up to two hours daily .
Herbal Toiletries
Our high-quality herbal toiletries come in plastic-free wraps and are produced by an all-women enterprise in Kerala.
Natural Mountain Source Water
Reverse Osmosis-purified drinking water is provided free of charge in sterilized glass bottles. Branded packaged bottled water is available only on request.
Say No to Plastic
Our material policy discourages non-biodegradable plastic bags and similar materials inside the premises. Guests may leave such items in the bins provided at the parking.
Natural Repellents

Sustainable Dining & Natural Farming
What we eat greatly influences how we interact with the world. Our sustainable dining practices reflect our commitment to healthier living and responsible choices.
- No artificial colours or Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) are used in any of our dishes.
- We cook using healthy oils: olive oil, rice bran oil, sunflower oil, and clarified coconut oil.
- Many of the fruits, vegetables, and spices used in our kitchen are sourced directly from our natural farm and local farms.
-
Our home-style kitchen prepares wholesome, nutritious meals using whole grains, fresh produce, lean proteins, and low-fat dairy products.
- As an equal alternative to rice and wheat we also use and reccomend millets in our menu, (millets require 1/5th of the water required to produce rice)
Zero Waste Initiatives
We follow a strict zero-waste approach and encourage guests to adopt practices that reduce environmental impact and conserve natural resources.
Recyclable Packaging
The use of plastic bags is minimized by adopting recyclable packaging and shopping
Composting
Food waste is converted into organic manure in our biodegradable compost unit which is about 250 kg annually. This is apart from the daily two hours bio gas generated.
Shared Pantry
A tea and coffee station in the common pantry helps reduce disposable tea bags, coffee sachets, and milk hampers. We serve organic single-garden tea and fresh single-garden coffee.
