Mistletoe

A name inspired by the mountain gods!

Across Greek and European traditions, the mistletoe plant has always symbolized love, romance, togetherness, and prosperity. Here this spirit flows into every room and every corner., One can truly visualize and become part of the unending romance between the ever-relaxing Letchmi, (Goddess Lakshmi) semi-laying position on the north, and the magnificent Chokkanmudi peaks, (named after Lord Siva – Chokkanaathar in Tamil Language) poised at her feet on the east, appreciating her natural curves, lush greenery, and the silvery streaks of waterfalls cascading down her vast bosom.

When we looked for a name, it was this beautiful, perennial love story between the two mountains that drew us instantly to Mistletoe.

Designed by an artist ... painted by nature!

Designed by award-winning Kerala artist Mr. Somu of Aymanam, Mistletoe carries his gentle signature—minimalist, elegant, and deeply rooted in nature. His vision touches everything: the concept, the architecture, the flow of spaces, even the logo that welcomes you at our door.

His approach embraces the spirit of wabi-sabi—the Japanese philosophy of finding beauty and meaning in natural, imperfect forms. Every texture, every curve, every handmade detail reflects this quiet grace.

Soft-spoken and observant, he reads the land with an artist’s eye. Through his quiet brilliance, Mistletoe has grown into more than a homestay— it has become a sanctuary of love, color, art, and belonging.

The concept of Mistletoe Homestay blossomed from the passionate vision of Joe, with the legacy of his forebears who migrated from the erstwhile Travancore region of Kerala in the 1930s. A psychology graduate from Adamson University, Manila, and a Certified Hotel Administrator, Joe brings 18 years of hospitality expertise from managing hotels and resorts in India. His wife, Jeena a mathematics post-graduate from Kochi, is your gracious host, weaving care into every moment. Joe’s late father, Joseph Oommen, a master baker, inspires the home stay’s oven, while his mother, Annamma, a Kottayam native, conjures Syrian Christian culinary magic. Their sons, Nirmal (16) and Thejas (13), sprinkle joy and energy, completing the family’s symphony. Committed to eco-conscious living, Mistletoe embraces sustainable waste, water, and energy conservation practices.
